Kitchen Cabinets with Glass Door Insets

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

With glass door kitchen cabinets, you are able to display your finest chinaware.  That is one aspect that many people consider when installing new kitchen cabinets.  They want more display space as well as storage space out of their kitchen cabinets.  Furthermore, why would you just want to store your chinaware when you can have them beautifully displayed for all to see?  It will add more beauty to your kitchen along with your kitchen island.  Not all of your kitchen cabinets should have glass insets though.  You definitely want to have some doors that are just wood so you don’t have to see your plastic containers on a daily basis.

When you install the right kitchen cabinets and kitchen island you will start to see your kitchen design improve dramatically.  With kitchen cabinets with glass insets on the doors, your kitchen will feel more open and spacious.  This is a great technique used by many with small kitchens looking to make it feel more airy and roomy.  You accomplish this without sacrificing any storage space.

Cocktail Parties Need Kitchen Islands Bar

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

Having a cocktail party at your house is real fun and nobody can say no to a cocktail party.  The only thing you have to worry about is where to serve your cocktails.  You don’t want to have a complete bar in your home.  Instead you should take a look at kitchen islands bar.  These great kitchen islands have storage for those delicious spirits and alcohol.  They are also a great place to cut those limes and mix your drinks.

With those olives in place, you are ready to make the best cocktails your neighborhood has seen.  You can reach into the drawers of your kitchen island bar to grab your mixer and cocktail napkins.  Those martinis never tasted so good.  Many people convert their kitchen islands into buffet tables and bars during home soirees to help accommodate the masses.  With martinis in hand, your guest will compliment you on your excellent shindig as well as beautiful granite kitchen island aka your wet bar for the night.

More Storage with Kitchen Cabinets Islands

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

My cabinets are filled to the brim and when I go to open them, plastic lids and storage fall out.  The worst part is that I can’t find anything right away and I am constantly going on scavenger hunts to find dishes, pots and pans.  This slows me down and when you have hungry mouths to feed you can’t be a minute behind schedule.  Once those stomachs start grumbling, they don’t care if you can’t find the right serving dish.  That is when I decided to tear out my useless kitchen island with no cabinet storage and started to look at kitchen cabinets islands.

With these wonders, I have the benefit of having a kitchen island with the even more added benefit of having more storage.  I figure this will last me a couple more years of collecting dishes until I need another house just to store my clutter.  But for now, I am organized and there is a place for everything and everything in its place.  In my opinion, kitchen cabinets islands are the most important piece of kitchen furniture.  Every home should come standard with kitchen cabinet islands and that should be made a law.

Mobile Kitchen Carts Islands

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

I love kitchen carts islands and the reason is because they let me roam around more freely in my kitchen.  It’s because they are mobile and I can wheel them out of the way when I need more space in my kitchen.  Before I was confined to a stationary kitchen island and when there were a lot of people in my home, it meant that there wasn’t a lot of room to walk around.  I come from a big family and it’s become a huge problem.

Now that is no longer in my kitchen design since I replaced my stationary kitchen island with a mobile kitchen carts island.  When I’m preparing food I put it in the middle of the kitchen to act as a pit stop between the sink and stove.  It works great and it serves it purpose.  But when I don’t need it, I simply wheel it away and there is more room to do things like break dance or do jumping jacks in my kitchen.  What I do in my kitchen is my prerogative when the kitchen cart island has been wheeled away.  I have even done yoga in the kitchen.

Having Breakfast on the Kitchen Island

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

I don’t have the luxury of having a breakfast nook and having breakfast on my formal dining room table sounds silly.  This is especially true when all I’m having is a couple pieces of toast or some pancakes.  That’s why I love my kitchen island.  Not only is it a great place to prepare my breakfast and lunch bag, it is also a great place to eat my breakfast.  I just grab a counter stool and have my breakfast on my kitchen island.  Heck, sometimes I even just have my dinners on my kitchen island and turn the television on.  Especially if it’s just me or a friend or two there is no need to be formal with my good friends.  We just pig out on the kitchen island and grab what we need from the cupboards and refrigerator.

The best part about eating on my kitchen island is that is it a granite kitchen island and it makes for easy cleaning.  Since I’m already in the kitchen, I just throw all the dishes into the dishwasher and give the granite a quick wipe down and I’m done.  For those more colloquial meals and when I’m all by myself, I stick to the kitchen and my favorite kitchen island.

Your Kitchen Needs Kitchen Carts

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

Preparing dinner is like conducting an orchestra!  You’re waving knives, utensils and other things in the air while you try to prepare food for the starving mouths waiting for food.  If only there was a way to cut corners to help save time.  Don’t think for one second that I mean sacrifice taste or the warm memories of a home cooked meal by just popping things into the microwave.  Kitchen carts will become your best friend when you have it right next to you to help serve you when needed.   You will be able to have that much needed extra counter space to help prepare the delicious feast.

With the extra counter space being mobile, you can create a prep area anywhere in your kitchen.  Meaning that you have the flexibility to be right next to the oven and have a counter to have all the fixings you are ready to throw into the pot.  That same counter space was just near the refrigerator helping you get all the ingredients need in just one trip.  Think of it as an upgraded shopping cart but for your kitchen.  There is not a more coveted piece of kitchen furniture than a kitchen cart.  So don’t waste anymore time and benefit from a kitchen cart today!

Kitchen Island Carts Are Fun Little Things

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

Living in a small apartment, I don’t have much room for alot of regular sized fixtures but I don’t know what I’d do if I didn’t have my kitchen island cart. When storage is something that can’t be taken for granted, kitchen island carts are the best solution to a space-related problem. The best thing about kitchen island carts is that they are so mobile and modular.

If you need the walking space in your kitchen, you can simply move your cart to another room. Even if you have no intentions of using a kitchen island, you can use a kitchen island cart to act as a sort of extended shelf where you can store your cookbooks and other odds and ends. Since it’s movable, you can also use it as you wish–when you desire. For example, if you want extra countertop space to chop your vegetables, you can move it towards your chopping block. You can also use it as a work table for those times you don’t have enough room for all your baking amenities.

Additionally, who says that kitchen island carts have to remain in the kitchen? You can use it as a serving table in the dining room when you have formal dinner parties. Simply place the food on top, and push it around to each person seated along the table as you would in a restaurant. I had a "fancy" dinner once and enlisted the help of my younger brother to act as the waiter pushing the cart around. He had a kick out of pretending to be a waiter at a five-star restaurant while we had fun enjoying ourselves in our fake jewelry and feathers.

A Magnificent Vision of Kitchen Island Lights

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

I have a rather large kitchen island but never really thought about investing in kitchen island lights. I mean, I have the customary halogen kitchen lamp above but it really serves the entire kitchen and not just the island. Lately, I have been having problems with actually being able to see the little things when I’m preparing meals on the kitchen island. My eyes aren’t as keen as they used to be and I never want to feel unsafe when chopping vegetables so I decided that it’s time to get some kitchen island lights that are more focused on this particular area.

Although a skylight was an option I initialy considered, ironically enough, natural light just isn’t as feasible. With the high installation costs of skylights, I would have to spend more on the contractors to break through my ceiling and install a window rather than buy fixtures and install them myself. Afterwards, I thought about putting in recessed lights that would add an overall ambience. The lights weren’t too expensive or harsh. In addition, I wanted to add in some task lights that were more direct and focused on the butcher block kitchen island area. This way, I could be able to see more clearly during the prepping of the food while avoiding cutting my fingers. Ultimately, I finally settled on some pendant lights that come down from the ceiling and hang a few feet above the island. These kitchen island lights are the perfect way to wake up any tired kitchen!
