I have a rather large kitchen island but never really thought about investing in kitchen island lights. I mean, I have the customary halogen kitchen lamp above but it really serves the entire kitchen and not just the island. Lately, I have been having problems with actually being able to see the little things when I’m preparing meals on the kitchen island. My eyes aren’t as keen as they used to be and I never want to feel unsafe when chopping vegetables so I decided that it’s time to get some kitchen island lights that are more focused on this particular area.
Although a skylight was an option I initialy considered, ironically enough, natural light just isn’t as feasible. With the high installation costs of skylights, I would have to spend more on the contractors to break through my ceiling and install a window rather than buy fixtures and install them myself. Afterwards, I thought about putting in recessed lights that would add an overall ambience. The lights weren’t too expensive or harsh. In addition, I wanted to add in some task lights that were more direct and focused on the butcher block kitchen island area. This way, I could be able to see more clearly during the prepping of the food while avoiding cutting my fingers. Ultimately, I finally settled on some pendant lights that come down from the ceiling and hang a few feet above the island. These kitchen island lights are the perfect way to wake up any tired kitchen!
